Island of Hestur.
The scenic little island of Hestur is located 9 nautical miles southwest of Tórshavn and it can be reached by boat in 1 hour 30 minutes.
The island's only village is located on the eastern side and is sparsely populated with about 15 inhabitants. The ferry connection to the mainland is limited to just two daily departures, ensuring the tranquility of the small village.
The west side of the island offers more drama as it is the location of spectacular “nature experiences”. The sea cliffs decorated with natural graffiti from the birds, where you will feel like a spectator in an “xx” and the world's largest sea cave, Klæmintsgjógv.
Our tour starts in Tórshavn marina, where the captain, Hávarður, welcomes you aboard the sailing boat Enniway, which is moored by the cozy cafe Umami. When we are ready, we release the moorings and sail towards the island of Hestur.
During the 1.5 hour boat trip, you will enjoy the fresh sea air and the relaxing sound of the boat cruising through the sea. We sail close to shore and you'll be able to see different species of birds and pecked sheep that have made the trip down to eat seaweed in weak waters.
When the boat reaches the southern tip of Hestur - Halen, as it is called by the locals - we pass a place with the “eitt sindur” of tidal currents. The experienced captain navigates the boat with high accuracy and it is very safe. It is very fascinating to see and feel how much influence the current has on the boat.
The boat trip around the island begins on the west side, where we sail very close to the rocks, so you can experience all the colors, the birds' nests and the structure of the landscape/rocks. The most common birds we see are Northern Fulmar, Guillemot, black Guillemot, European Shag and Stercorarius skua. At sea we very often meet Puffins, even a few Gannets.
At first the cliffs are small and humble, but as we sail north, the cliffs gradually rise to 280 metres. The cliffs are home to an “xx” number of birds and there are a lot of “gorran and geylan”. It beautifully decorated by white graffiti of the flying birds. And the whole setting is very picturesque.
Klæmintsgjógv, said to be the largest sea cave in the world, is easily accessible with dirt, so we can sail with the dirt into the cave, sit in the dirt on a trip into the cave, is a very special experience, since sitting almost in the water, sailing so close to the caves, the rocks with all its colors on it, and birds.

The Enni team
The company is run by our Family "Enni".
Father & son, we are very enthusiastic sailors and dedicated to our islands.Sail with us as we can contribute to make your holidays unforgettable!
Enniway was born on 01th ofMay 2005 when we bought a Bianca model 420 sailboat in Denmark and sailed her to her new home in the Faroe Islands, Tórshavn.
Birgir began sailing day tours with people onboard the old schooner, Norðlýsið in the early 1990, and Hávarður practically grew up onboard the beautiful wooden ship, embodying and growing fond of maritime life and the seaways.
On Norðlýsið, good food and stories from the sea were an integral part of the day tours. Birgir was the captain and storyteller of the schooner for around 30 years until he retired.
Birgir and Hávarður were among the first islanders to collect and promote the local delicacies of the fjords. Most Faroese people have tried or at least heard about Birgirs famous fish soup whilst sailing with Norðlýsið, and as a young boy, Hávarður would collect and sell fresh shellfish to restaurants as an after-school job.
With Enniway, we keep our passion for the sea alive. We invite old and new friends to sail with us and experience our beautiful archipelago by sea. Also we find much joy in cooking and sharing newly caught seafood.
The Faroe Islands through our eyes
The Faroe Islands has an extraordinary oceanic climate on an exceptional location.
The landscape characterised by bold cliffs facing the rough sea is an incredible scenery with wildlife.
Exposed in the middle of the Atlantic, the weather can change very rapidly, and sothe skies formation, giving the most beautiful and dramatic lights. We are sure this will be something you willenjoy during your time here.
You will find Enniway in the cosy and picturesque harbour, Vágsbotn, and all our day tours begin in that very place.
